Great potential
The logistics industry is deeply involved in all aspects of life as well as all activities of the economy. In terms of scale, according to the World Bank (WB), in 2017, logistics costs of Vietnam is equivalent to 20% of GDP (about 40 billion USD). Thus, it can be said that logistics plays a very important role and should be focused on development to match the size of the industry as well as to reduce logistics costs, improve competitiveness in general.

Being the leading economic center, TP. HCM has the largest market in terms of export - import as well as domestic consumption. Currently, the city has 11 container ports and direct export - import bulk goods with a total area of 310ha and over 7000m wharf. In terms of container throughput in the HCMC area in 2017 alone, about 6.5 million TEUs (1 TEU equals 1 20 feet container), accounting for over 60% of the country's total.
As such, HCM City is the center and the focal point in developing logistics service is very large and has the most potential in the country. For years, logistics service enterprises in the city have invested in infrastructure such as seaports, warehouses and logistics centers.
Build two logistics centers
According to the development plan, by 2020, the total land area devoted to industrial development of the city will increase by 2 to 3 times compared to today. Therefore, the opportunity to own land fund to develop this potential field is great for both existing investors and prospective investors in the future.
Tran Vinh Tuyen, vice chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the port group in Ho Chi Minh City was identified as a national general port, a regional focal point, including wharves on the Saigon River, Cat Lai wharf area Dong Nai river,Hiep Phuoc wharf on Soai Rap river. Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade said that it will build a logistics center inHiep Phuoc Industrial Park (Nha Be District). The second center is expected to be built in Thu Duc district. In addition, the city will also study the construction of a dedicated aviation center on the road linking Tan Son Nhat International Airport and Long Thanh International Airport in the future.
